ESO Subclassing
Subclassing is a gameplay system in ESO, that allows you to mix skill lines from all available Classes in order to create a truly unique Character! With Subclassing, players can finally create the character of their dreams and play how they really want! This amazing system is available with the Base game and will help you create powerful ESO Builds.
How Subclassing Works in ESO?
Subclassing unlocks when one of your characters reach level 50! To access the system, accept the “A Study in Discipline” Quest from the Crown Store and meet Bahtra at-Hunding in Reaper’s March (Dune), Bangkorai (Evermore) or The Rift (Riften) Zones.
Bahtra offers info on all available Classes and is the NPC you can visit whenever you want to switch Class Skill Lines! By using her interface you can add or remove skill lines to your Character. Additionally you can change your Subclassing lines by visiting a Shrine to Stendarr after you have finished the intro quest.
There are a few limitations to subclassing you need to keep in mind. You will always have to retain one of your original Class skill lines and you will not be able to alter your Original Class. Which means that if you create a Sorcerer, you will always have to keep one of their Class lines active and your character will always be a Sorcerer.

Keeping one original Skill line, lets you pick up to two Skill Lines from other Classes(but not two skill lines from the same Class). Which means that you can mix your original Class with up to two more. For example you can have a Sorcerer with one Class line from Nightblade and one from Arcanist. Or a Sorcerer with two original Class lines and one Class line from Necromancer! The combinations are almost endless, especially if you consider the fact that every Class has three Skill lines to choose from.
When you pick a Skill line from another Class, you gain access to every skill in that line, including Passives and Ultimates. Those skills are not weakened, they work as if you were using their original Class. In order to use skill lines from the paid Classes(Warden, Necromancer, Arcanist), you must have access to those Classes.
The Subclassing system is account wide, which means that if you have multiple characters you already have access to their skill lines. The Subclassing skill lines you level up can be used with all your other characters. You must level up Subclassing skill lines at least once (ignoring the original Class leveling process), to use them with your other characters!

How to Swap Subclassing Lines in ESO!
A skill line at level 50 is considered “Mastered”! Mastered skill lines can be swapped in and out of your characters at any time. Skill lines that are not Mastered cannot be swapped out. You can have up to three not Mastered skill lines active at the same time. To replace them with another line, you must first get them to level 50.
If you have more characters of different Classes with their lines at level 50, then these Skill lines are considered Mastered. You can swap them in and out of will for your other characters. If you pick a line from a Class, you have never played before, then its lines are not mastered. If you pick one of those lines, you need to level it up to 50 before removing it. Not Mastered skill lines lock one of your available three Subclassing Slots!
How Subclassing affects Class Sets in ESO?
Subclassing does not change your original Class! Which means that the character you create has access to specific Class Sets. So if you create a Templar, then you can only use the Templar exclusive Class Sets!
Where can you use Subclassing in ESO?
You can use Subclassing everywhere in ESO! From PVE Group Gameplay to hard Solo and PVP content! Subclassing offers true freedom to players and lets them play the way they really want!
What is the Cost of Subclassing in ESO?
Unlocking skill from other Classes via Subclassing has an extra cost in Skill points. You need to use double Skill points to unlock and use Skills from other Classes with your original Character. You can speed up the process by activating the Discipline Artisan slottable Star in the Craft Champion Points Tree. This will result in an up to a 15% increased experience for Subclassing lines.
ESO Subclassing Conclusion
Subclassing is an amazing gameplay system in ESO, that lets you mix skills from all available Classes! Players can create their character and when they reach level 50 unlock the ability to mix their original skills with skills from other Classes. To maintain Class identity, you need to keep at least one original skill line from your Class and add up to two more skill lines from others.
The system is account wide so if you have multiple characters, you already have their Class skill lines unlocked. All you need to do is level up the individual skills you want to use. Like this you can create powerful ESO Subclassing Builds and play the way you truly want!
