Throne and Liberty Gets a New Publisher: FirstSpark Games / NC Takes Over
In an announcement released earlier today Amazon Game Studios has informed the Throne and Liberty player base that it is transitioning live operations of the game in the West to FirstSpark Games / NC.
This transition will start in Q4 2026 and follows Amazon Game Studios’ decision to shift away from major first-party game development last year.
What is Happening to Throne and Liberty?
NC will take over live operations of Throne and Liberty in the West, but the transition is not expected to disrupt players’ existing progress or accounts. No changes will be made to characters, progression, inventory or playable platforms.
You will be able to continue playing Throne and Liberty with your existing Steam and Console accounts, Cross-Play will remain the same as before and players on PURPLE, Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms will be able to play together in a single unified environment.
PURPLE will be added as a new way to access the game in the West and Cross-Progression will work between Steam and NC’s PURPLE platform. It will not work between any other platforms however.
What Does this Mean for Players?
For most players, the transition should have little impact on their existing game experience. Existing characters and progression remain intact, Cross-Play will continue across supported platforms and PURPLE becomes another way to access the game with Cross-Progression between it and Steam.
During the transition all players’ game data will be transferred to NC so they can continue playing after the transition. Players can opt out of this process, but doing so comes with some important consequences:
- Your characters, progression, and inventory will not carry over
- You will need to start fresh if you choose to play Throne and Liberty under NC’s operation
- Your Amazon Game Studios account data will be handled per standard data retention and deletion policies
