How to Unlock Bastian Hallix Companion in ESO
Bastian is one of the two available Companions you can unlock in the Blackwood zone, along with Mirri Elendis. So in order to unlock him you must first gain access to the zone by owning the Blackwood DLC. When you get access to the zone, travel to the Deepscorn Hollow point of interest to find Bastian. To unlock him as a Companion you need to complete his introductory Quest “Competition and Contracts“.

Bastian is a great Tank Companion in ESO! To boost his efficiency in this role you can equip him with a full set of Heavy Armor. What is Bastian Good for in ESO?
Bastian is a great Support Companion in ESO, that can offer heals and buffs with his Builds! Thanks to his unique Companion abilities, Bastian can support you with a few effects in combat:
- Basalt Barrier – Damage Shield
- Blazing Grasp – Crowd Control
- Crushing Claws – Crowd Control
- Fiery Flail – Off Balance
- Searing Weapons – Light and Heavy Attack Damage Boost
His Searing Weapons ability, buffs the damage of your Light and Heavy Attacks, which increases your overall DPS. With Basalt Barrier he can also offer you a Damage Shield, which can be very helpful in harder content.

The Best Build for Bastian in ESO is that of a Tank-Buffer hybrid. Bastian is a sturdy Companion but not the best at the role of a pure Tank. Where Bastian shines as a Companion in ESO though is in support roles where he can assist with his buffs while holding aggro of enemies or healing you.
