ESO Subclassing Impact
The introduction of Subclassing to ESO had a strong impact to the way players see Classes and plan their Builds! The new system has caused a dramatic shift of the “meta” in favor of multi classing. Does that mean that the original ESO Classes are not relevant any more though?
How Subclassing affects ESO Gameplay
With Subclassing, players can now mix Lines and Skills from all available Classes in order to create their dream character. Which means that they can now follow their own path in the game by transforming their original character in any way they like. This gives an unprecedented freedom to gameplay in The Elder Scrolls Online.
A side effect of that freedom, was a substantial increase in power. By allowing players to use skills from all Classes, it is now possible to boost DPS numbers and clear content faster. After only one Week of testing the new system in PTS(Public Test Server) it is clear that the original, “Pure” Classes are already left behind. But does that mean that pure Classes are now dead in ESO? Is playing a Class as it was meant, with its original Skill Lines, now Worthless?

How Subclassing Impacts Classes in ESO
To understand how Subclassing affects Classes and gameplay it will be better to see some parse examples and numbers. A quick parse with my pure(Hybrid) Magicka Sorcerer DPS Build gives a result of around 112k DPS. A great result that can help you clear every content in ESO with ease.
Likewise, my Pure Stamina Sorcerer DPS Build produced a 109k DPS result, which is also great and can clear every PVE content. But let’s add Subclassing to the mix and see what kind of results we are getting. I have chosen to ignore the most broken combinations that exist right now(Arcanist and Nightblade, Arcanist and Templar etc). I am only adding the Assassination Skill Line from the Nightblade Class to Daedric Summoning and Storm Calling lines of the Sorcerer.

The results are very interesting. With that simple addition, DPS went up for both my Magicka and Stamina Sorcerer to 127k and 125k respectively. A simple mix of Skill lines with Subclassing, caused a significant increase in power! An increase that is hard to ignore. The same applies to every other Class in the game. Subclassing just makes them stronger!
Are Pure Classes Dead in ESO?
So are Pure Classes Dead in ESO now that Subclassing is around? I would not call pure Classes dead, yet! If you wish to learn how to play a Class or become better in The Elder Scrolls online, then I believe that Pure Classes still have a role to play. It is simpler to learn the game by interacting with the original skill lines and gameplay of your favorite Class.
But the increase in power subclassing offers, is impossible to ignore. With Subclassing, even the hardest content becomes easier and faster to complete now. It is only logical that players will want to access that power and have more fun in ESO! So if you want to reach the highest numbers possible and clear content as fast as possible, then Subclassing Builds are the way to go. In that regard the original, “Pure” Classes are definitely outdated already and feel obsolete.
