ESO Update 52 and Season Three Features

Update 52 and Season Three introduce several new features, systems, and important quality of life improvements to ESO. Update 52 launches on January 19th, 2027, while Season Three arrives on January 27th, 2027!

Everything New in Update 52 and Season Three

The most important new features coming to The Elder Scrolls Online with Update 52 and Season Three are:

  • Jerall Pass
  • Rimegales
  • Housing Changes
  • Tanking Improvements
  • New House
  • More Changes

Jerall Pass

Jerall Pass is a new PVP zone in ESO that is available with Season Three on January 27th, 2027! This is a three-sided 40v40v40 open world alliance based PvPvE zone, similar to Cyrodiil but on a significantly smaller map.

Players can roam around the area to fight named bosses, capture resources and eventually the only fort of the area, Fanthor Keep! Under the keep a powerful being called the Pyre Lord also awaits. You can either fight it or tame it and have it join your side.

There are several repeatable quests you can complete in Jerall Pass, that reward you with gold, Alliance Points and Jerall Marks. This is the zone’s new currency that you can use to buy a variety of items, like style pages, Mythic Items Leads and Supply Crates! Supply Crates are necessary to counteract the deterioration of the Keep and resources in Jerall Pass!

Rimegales

Rimegales is a new Dynamic Encounter in the Eastern regions of Skyrim! You can find them in The Rift and Eastmarch zones. In the Rift, Rimegales arrive every hour, on the hour. In Eastmarch, the event starts on the half hour.

When a Rimegale is active it overwrites all Dark Anchors in the zone. To complete them successfully, you need to complete three simple steps:

  1. Build and light all Bonfires in the area. Collect Logs and deliver them to the bonfires.
  2. Defeat the Rime Giants.
  3. Destroy the Rimegale Spear.

When you complete all three steps a reward chest will appear and you can loot it.

Housing Changes

Housing is getting significant improvements as well! With the help of a new feature called Furniture Streaming, the number of furnishing slots in Notable and Classic homes has increased! These are the new limits:

Classic Homes:

  • Traditional Furnishing slots: 300 base, 600 for ESO+
  • Special Furnishing slots: 5 base, 10 for ESO+
  • Collectible slots: 30 base, 60 for ESO+
  • Special Collectible slots: 5 base, 10 for ESO+

Notable Homes:

  • Traditional Furnishing slots: 700 base, 1,400 for ESO+
  • Special Furnishing slots: 10 base, 20 for ESO+
  • Collectible slots: 110 base, 220 for ESO+
  • Special Collectible slots: 10 base, 20 for ESO+

Tanking Improvements

ESO Tanks also receive several improvements to their playstyle! The Unstoppable Heavy Armor skill and its morphs, as well as Goading Smash and Goading Vault, now offer an AoE Taunt. This makes it easier for Tanks to control groups of enemies and assist their allies. Additionally the Tormentor Set now taunts all enemies rather than only the first enemy hit and Inner Beast works as an AoE Pull!

New House

One New House comes to ESO with Update 52:

  • Shimmerfrost Vale in Eastmarch
