Update 51 introduces a variety of new Gameplay Systems and Quality of Life Changes to ESO! While most features arrive with Update 51 on September 28, others will launch later with Season Two on October 21.

Everything New in Update 51 and Season Two

The most important new features coming to The Elder Scrolls Online with Update 51 and Season Two are:

  • Nowhere Vault
  • High Seas of Tamriel Event
  • Rumors
  • Solo Dungeons
  • Battlegrounds Changes
  • Hybridization and Alchemy Changes
  • New Houses
  • New Sets
  • More Changes

Nowhere Vault

The Nowhere Vault is a new gameplay experience in The Elder Scrolls Online, that relies more on solving puzzles instead of combat. The Vault was first introduced to players at the end of the new Thieves Guild Quest Line along with Season One.

To access the Vault, you need a Wondrous Nowhere Key! You can acquire those from a variety of activities in ESO:

Nowhere Keys are tradeable and can be sold through Guild Stores, which makes their acquisition easier. Inside the Vault you will encounter various rooms that offer unique challenges. There are also special rooms that reveal info about the history of the Vault or are filled with treasure and other valuable items.

High Seas of Tamriel Event

The High Seas of Tamriel is a new Event that lets players explore areas underwater and fight in ship to ship battles. The Event begins on September 30 and will last until October 14. While it is live, you can earn a variety of rewards, including Trade Bars and Antiquities Leads for nautical items!

Rumors

Rumors introduces a completely different way to experience quests by removing quest markers in ESO! Players are encouraged to investigate clues and discover objectives on their own. A refreshing approach to questing in The Elder Scrolls Online that rewards exploration. The Rumors system goes live with Update 51 on September 28.

ESO Solo Dungeons

Solo Dungeons arrive with Season Two on October 21. This first iteration of the system will include only two Dungeons, Moon Hunter Keep and March of Sacrifices.

The Solo version of those dungeons is different from their standard versions with their own rewards. Before you begin you can pick up to three misfortunes to increase their difficulty.

Battlegrounds Changes

Three Sided Battlegrounds return to ESO with a twist! The old familiar 4vs4vs4 matches transform into 6vs6vs6 to introduce more PVP chaos in Tamriel. Because of this change the two sided 8vs8 matches also change to 9vs9. The competitive queue remains as 4vs4 two sided matches.

Hybridization and Alchemy Changes

With Update 51 Hybridization in ESO also makes another step forward! Brutality now provides both weapon and spell damage while Savagery now provides both weapon and spell critical chance. Sorcery and Prophecy buffs are removed from the game. Vexation is a new buff that reduces healing done and serves as the counterpart to Mending.

To further support hybridization, Alchemy also sees significant changes! The Increase Spell Power and Increase Weapon Power effects are now consolidated to a single Increase Power trait. The Increase Weapon Critical and Increase Spell Critical are now consolidated to a single Critical trait. Maim is no longer available as an alchemy trait. Enervation is now the counter-trait to Force.

You can now also use four new reagents:

  • Cultivated Cryptpods(Solo Dungeons)
  • Daedra-Blood Maggots(Imperial City Sewers)
  • Fossilized Verminous Bones(Treasure Maps in the original Alliance zones)
  • Winter’s Grave Tongues(Icy zones, either on wood or carried by the undead)

Several reagents have also been adjusted to fit the new reality. All these changes affect Potions and Poisons making in The Elder Scrolls Online!

The Warrior Mundus now grants both weapon and spell damage. The Apprentice now grants an 8% bonus to experience and inspiration gain, rather than spell damage. Finally several Class Passives were adjusted as well.

New Houses

Two New Houses come to ESO with Update 51! These are:

  • Grotto of Desires in Blackwood, that you can unlock in a future Event by collecting its fragments.
  • Sheogorad Chateau in Vvardenfell.

New Monster Sets

Update 51 introduces two new Monster Sets that you can get from the available Solo Dungeons:

  • Mylenne Moon-Caller(Solo Moon Hunter Keep)
  • Tarcyr(Solo March of Sacrifices)
