Welcome to my Laser Weapons Expert Build for Starfield. A combat Build that is focusing on using Laser weapons to deal massive damage from early in the game. One major benefit Laser Weapons have over Ballistics is that it is easier to find ammo for them, even early in your Starfield playthrough. This Build will help you defeat enemies with Laser Weapons in Space or Ground combat.

Best Background for Laser Weapons Expert Build in Starfield

The Best Background for the Laser Weapons Expert Build is Cyberneticist! Backgrounds are basically starter classes in Starfield, that offer access to a set of three novice skills. Picking the right background for your build will help you become more efficient at your role early in the game.

Cyberneticist Background

The Background gives access to the following skills:

  • Medicine
  • Security
  • Lasers

The Lasers skill is vital for the Build and with the proper background allows us to be more effective when using Laser Weapons from the beginning of the game! Medicine is another helpful skill to have early that makes Med Packs and aid items more efficient. Finally the Security skill can help with making credits or finding better items by hacking locks. Some good alternative Backgrounds are:

  • Explorer
  • Xenobiologist

Best Traits for Laser Weapons Expert Build in Starfield

Increasing Health and oxygen is our number one priority for the Build! The Best Traits for the Laser Weapons Expert Build are:

  • Alien DNA
  • Terra Firma or Spaced
  • Introvert or Extrovert
  • Wanted
  • Empath(if you bring Companions along)
  • Faction and Religious

Alien DNA boosts Health and Oxygen but reduces the effectiveness of healing and food items. Terra Firma will boost your Health and Oxygen when on the ground while Spaced will boost your Health and Oxygen while in Space. Introvert boosts Oxygen when adventuring alone while Extrovert boosts Oxygen when adventuring with Companions. Wanted offers a boost to damage when you are low on health, which can be helpful when fighting outnumbered or dealing with a stronger enemy. Empath will increase the fighting performance of your Companions, if they like you. If they do not like you they will not be as effective though.

Finally you can pick any Faction specific or Religious specific Trait, if you wish to build up your relationship with one of their corresponding groups. You can only have one of those Social focused Traits in the game active. One for Factions and one for Religions.

Energy Weapon Dissipation reduces Energy Damage taken and can even reflect Energy Damage back to enemies, making you a true Energy and Laser Weapons Expert! Cellular Regeneration and Rejuvenation will assist with getting you back to action in no time if you are injured or low on health but they are not top priority for the Build. You can take them later.

Commerce will help you make credits in Starfield by selling all the items you are looting! Pick Isolation or Leadership to further boost your capabilities, depending on whether or not you have Companions with you.

Lasers is a core skill for the Build that will further increase our damage. We are focusing on Rifle and scoped weapons to deal most damage from medium to large distance. This is why we unlock the Rifle Certification, Sniper Certification and Sharpshooting skills. Armor Penetration will make your weapons to ignore enemy armor while Crippling will bring down enemies faster. Rapid Reloading reduces the time it takes to reload your weapon and increases combat efficiency. Particle Beams allows you to have a secondary weapon.

  • Chemistry(Expert)

Medicine boosts the effectiveness of Med Packs and will keep you alive. Weapon Engineering will help you create better Weapon mods to add to your weapons! Spacesuit Design will do the same for your Spacesuit. Chemistry allows you to create chems to further boost your character.

Tech Skills

  • Boost Pack Training(Novice)

You get Security from your Background and that should be enough from this skill line. Also unlock Boost Pack Training for better combat mobility! You can unlock and use any other skill in the game to enrich the build and make it more personal!

The Build relies on Laser Weapons for maximum damage and range. Rifles are our weapons of choice, since they can deal significant damage and use scopes to strike from distance. Early in the game you can find easily an Equinox Laser Rifle. You can later upgrade to the Orion Laser Rifle and Unmitigated Violence. When picking mods for your Weapon focus on mods that increase Accuracy and Damage!

These perks are very useful in combat and will assist you when fighting multiple enemies. To maximize the potential of the Spacesuit you can add the following mods:

  • First Slot – Shielding of your choice
  • Second Slot – Optimized Servos(reduced Oxygen cost for sprinting)

How to Play the Laser Weapons Build in Starfield

Focus on staying as far as possible from your enemies and take them down with your superb Laser Rifles. Rifles can hit hard from a distance with the assistance of Scopes, so you can take down enemies even before they detect you. Find cover and start your attack. Sprint to a better location and continue if the enemy is pressuring you. Avoid getting too close to your enemies and try to take down melee fighters as fast as possible.
