How to Setup your Companion for the Endless Archive in ESO

Companions in general are not that effective in the role of DPS. So focusing on that role for the Endless Archive will not be that beneficial to you. They can be however great Tanks and Healers. A Companion in a Tank, Healer or a hybrid Support setup can assist you by drawing aggro from enemies, keeping Bosses occupied, buffing you and debuffing targets or even healing you when you are in need. The Support role with appropriate gear and skills, seems to be the best option for a Companion Build in the Endless Archive.

To progress in the Endless Archive with a Companion you can wear a Solo gameplay focused setup! Solo Builds offer great defense, survivability and good damage that can help you survive and defeat stronger enemies. Dedicated Solo Builds are helpful for harder content like the Maelstrom Arena, Vateshran Hollows and of course the Endless Archive! To complement your Companions and make them even more efficient, you can also add the Telvanni Efficiency Crafted Set to your Solo Build! This unique Set reduces the cooldown of your living Companions’ abilities and reduces the cost of your Skills when your Companions are down!

Companions Drawbacks in Endless Archive ESO

While Companions are indeed helpful if you wish to run the Archive alone, without the assistance of another player, they have a few drawbacks you need to know!

  • They cannot avoid ground Area of Effects skills the enemies throw at their feet!
  • Cannot deal with complex mechanics.

No matter what you do, your Companion will always die when you are facing a Boss with complex mechanics. Companions at the moment cannot deal with this type of gameplay that requires players to perform specific tasks in order to survive a mechanic. This happens mostly against DLC Dungeon Bosses and Trial Bosses that you will have to defeat at the end of a cycle. Ground AOEs also seem to be the bane of your Companions when you are fighting stronger Bosses in the Archive. Despite these two drawbacks, Companions can be an asset when running the Endless Archive and provide valuable support against tough enemies.
